Ideal Timeline for Planning a Session

Planning a session should feel exciting, not overwhelming. Whether you’re booking content for a new campaign or refreshing your brand visuals, I want the process to feel collaborative, clear, and easy from start to finish. Over the years, I’ve refined an ideal timeline that allows us to create high-quality content without rushing the creative process.

Disclaimer: This timeline reflects my ideal process — the one that allows us to get the most out of our time together creatively and logistically. But it’s not a strict rulebook. If your timeline looks a little different, don’t worry, I’m always happy to adapt and work with your specific project needs.

01.

Initial Inquiry (6-12 Weeks Before Your Desired Date)

This is when you reach out with your vision, goals, and timeline. We’ll hop on a quick discovery call within a couple of weeks of that original inquiry to get to know each other and talk through the scope, usage needs, and how I can help bring your ideas to life. From there, I’ll send over a meeting recap with a tailored proposal, a quote and my booking link.

02.

Booking + Deposit (Immediately After Approval)

Once you've chosen your session type and date you’ll secure your booking with a deposit. I’ll send over a contract, invoice and collaborative Notion vision board so you feel totally prepped and supported.

03.

Creative Planning (4-6 Weeks Before Your Session)

This is where the fun starts. We’ll work through the creative brief together — location ideas, shot list priorities, vibe, props, wardrobe, timings. During this time I’ll offer location or studio suggestions if needed. The goal here is to get crystal clear on what we’re creating and how it will be used.

We'll mostly communicate through the Notion vision board, but we'll also plan a second call in this period of time to get more into the details of your session/brand/vision etc.

04.

Final Check-In (1 Week Before)

A quick catch-up to finalize the call sheet, check weather (if we’re outdoors), confirm any last-minute details, and make sure everyone’s aligned.

05.

Session Day

With everything prepped in advance, the session itself flows smoothly. I’ll guide you through the process so you can focus on showing up and staying present.

06.

Editing + Delivery (4 Weeks Post-Session, Unless Previously Discussed)

After the session, I’ll curate and edit the final deliverables. You’ll receive an album of high-resolution deliverables with usage rights clearly outlined — ready to post, print, or pitch.

This timeline is ideal — and totally doable with a bit of lead time. Of course, I can usually accommodate tighter turnarounds depending on the scope. If you're thinking of booking a session, reach out early and let’s get the conversation started!
